Rua is a football-mad red fox. He’s clever, adaptable, agile, intelligent, resourceful and quick, possessing all of the attributes of a skillful footballer.
Sionnach FC (Foxes’ Club) is where Rua plays, where he is a much-loved member of a very closely-knit squad. The team play their home games in The Den, somewhere in the Irish countryside, but no-one is entirely sure where it is. That information is just for the foxes!
Always the first name on the team sheet, Rua’s adaptability has found him playing in every position at some point in his career! He started off as a young cub playing in goal, where his agility helped him to pull off wonder saves and impress all of his cub pals.
During the next season, his intelligence saw him marshalling Sionnach FC’s defence where he played at centre half (his brush also made him an effective sweeper), while his resourcefulness also saw him frequently playing midfield. His agility and speed meant he was also a great choice at left or right back AND an option on either wing. When he was little, some other players on the team used to get jealous of Rua’s talent and pull his tail, but he did his talking on the pitch and never let them get him down.
Rua’s dream was always to play up front just like all of his heroes and this is where he finds himself now. His intelligence, agility and speed make him an unstoppable force – he really is a fox in the box.
Rua went to his first Sports Direct FAI Summer Soccer School a few years ago and loved it so much he couldn’t wait to tell all of his friends and come back every year. In fact, the whole Sionnach FC team loved the camps so much they set up their own for all of the cubs at the club! He is also a HUGE Ireland fan, so watch out for him at Aviva Stadium.
Rua is a big fan of social media and plans on setting up his own Twitter account and blog – but he needs a little help as his furry paws aren’t the best for typing with!
